Picket by VelinorIntelligence-led vulnerability management · Defence, CNI & Regulated Industry

Assessed, not just scored.

A scan of your estate returns thousands of findings. Picket tells you which few are most likely to be used against you, and leaves a record you can hand an assessor, a prime or an insurer.

Who this is for

Whoever is asking, the evidence is the same.

Most organisations come to us because somebody external has started asking.

01

Defence supply chain

Defence Cyber Certification

Def Stan 05-138 scales with your Cyber Risk Profile rather than setting one bar. From Level 1, vulnerability management, patch management and monitoring are in scope, and an assessor will want to see them evidenced.

Where do we stand, and what would we hand an assessor?

Twelve questions that tell you which level you need →
02

CNI and NIS-regulated

NCSC Cyber Assessment Framework, B4 and C1

Outcome B4.d asks you to understand your exposure to publicly-known vulnerabilities and to prioritise and promptly mitigate them. Principle C1 asks you to detect and triage what matters. Both are evidence questions before they are engineering questions.

Can we show a year of it, in the framework’s own words?

The questions on your renewal proposal form

Insurers can ask how often you scan your perimeter and how quickly you patch. A dated document is worth more than an assertion at renewal, and far more after a claim. A Recce gets you one inside a week.

Can we answer the form with evidence rather than an estimate?

What a Recce gives you →

Nothing is scanned until you have authorised it in writing, under a signed scope naming the assets and the window.

Wherever the question came from, the first step is the same.

Who runs it

Picket is run by people who did this work inside government. Ben Brand ran the MOD’s Vulnerability Management Support Team for over two years, after ten years in the Intelligence Corps. James A. Lang retired a Warrant Officer Class 1, Royal Signals, and was appointed the MOD’s first AI Cybersecurity Product Manager.

How it works

Thousands of findings in. The few that threaten you, out.

If your MSP or your own team already scans and patches, Picket does not replace them. It ranks what they and we find against what is actually being used against organisations like yours.

  1. 01IngestFrom our own external scanning, and from the security tooling you already run.
  2. 02RankSeverity, exploit probability, and how much that particular asset matters to your business.
  3. 03AnnotateKnown exploitation and our own threat intelligence set the deadline. Every source is graded on the Admiralty scale, so a rumour never reaches you as a confirmed exploit. None of it changes the score, so anyone can re-run the ranking and get the same answer.
  4. 04An analyst reads itA person reads the result before it reaches you, and the pack carries their name.
  5. 05Track and evidenceWhat was fixed, what was accepted and why, what is still open. It goes into a pack written in the words of the standard you are assessed on, whether that is DCC, the CAF or your insurer’s form.
What it looks like

A 9.8 at the bottom of the list. A 7.5 near the top.

Ranked on severity alone, the curl flaw would sit near the top. Here it comes last: lower exploit probability, on a build server that matters less to the business. The Citrix flaw is less severe on paper, but its exploit probability is above 99% and it sits on the gateway everyone signs in through.

Example queue. The estate is fictional, the CVEs are real. CVSS from the NVD, EPSS from FIRST and exploitation status from the CISA KEV catalogue, all read 8 October 2026. Pri is calculated by Picket from CVSS, EPSS and how much the asset matters. Exploitation evidence sits beside the score, never inside it.
The ladder

Start with one day. Go as far as you need.

Every step is fixed in scope and leaves you with a dated record.

Picket Recce

Fixed fee, one day

An authorised external scan, two or three short interviews, and a five-page brief inside a week: what is exposed, which of it matters, and where you stand. The fee counts in full towards whatever comes next. Picket is a new service, so the first five clients come in at a founding rate, in exchange for a debrief and an anonymised case note.

Picket Assessment

Fixed fee, four weeks

A bounded scope or the whole estate. We scan in week one and again in week four and report what changed, so you see how fast exposure moves on your estate. Findings ranked, owned and dated, and the record written up for you rather than left for you to assemble.

Picket Continuous

Monthly retainer

Your internet-facing estate, monitored continuously, with an analyst reading the result. One evidence pack a month, written against the standard you are assessed on. Onboarding is a named thirty-day deliverable, not a settling-in period.

Picket Annual

Fixed fee, yearly

For the organisation that does not want a retainer. The twelve-month external re-assessment and the record that goes with it.

Start with a conversation, not a contract.
